I began writing stories when I was a child and while I was in the Boy Scouts I and founded and edited a troop magazine.

After teacher training in London, at what is now part of Greenwich University, I began my career in Hertfordshire in the school where I met my future wife. It was also at this time that I earned my first money from writing. Following a further year at Sussex University, I spent just over 20 years as Head of a primary school in Cambridgeshire. During that time I continued to write for a number of publications.

Following early retirement my wife and I established our own school that we ran for 13 years before retiring for second time. An account of these 13 years , entitled A Rather Strange Retirement, was published in February 2014, initially as an e-book.

For a number of years I have written extensively on educational topics and issues relating to health and safety. Although I continue with this, more recently I have moved into the areas of military history, environmental issues and travel, writing on these topics for several on-line newspapers.

These have resulted in two books in Bretwalda’s Heroes of the RAF series: RAF Duxford, published in 2012  and Douglas Bader, published on 30th October 2014.

My latest book, East Anglia at War, was published in May 2015.

My research skills are good and I am usually able to write authoritatively on most topics. I always take great pride in writing to length and meeting my deadlines.
